I’ll just cut right to it. I LOVE this pack. It’s been my go-to for years now. There are two very specific reasons why it will always be my number one: no wasted space, and the yoke style harness.
The main compartment has extra pouches and zipper panels sewn in, offering excellent organization. I can keep electronics safe towards the top of the pack, while gear for inclement weather stays compressed at the bottom. The admin pouch is also well thought out and organized, utilizing every inch of space. The way it incorporates and anchors into the larger RUSH72 pack is absolutely brilliant, and the attachment points on top and at the bottom are perfect if I need to lash more gear to it.
The yoke style harness contours to the nape of my neck, and helps to distribute weight evenly along my shoulders and back. Preformed to taper in across the chest, the shoulder straps won’t deform or fold over anymore. Being able to adjust the actual sternum strap in 2″ increments is more than enough for me, although I do wish it were more analog. The polymer backer ensures that any hydration pouch used pushes into the pack, as opposed to deforming the back panel and becoming uncomfortable. With every inch of the pack covered in molle webbing, expanding the pack for even more storage is easily done too.
Historically, my favorite 5.11 product. However, my only point of contention is that the pack is heavy for what it is. It’s tough as nails, and I can confidently say it will handle anything I throw at it, but 1050D Cordura simply results in a heavier pack than some of its competition.
