I had been on the fence about purchasing a stand up paddleboard for quite a while. Renting some before making the purchase seemed like a good idea. Turns out it was a great idea, and I wasn’t the only one with it.

The three of us decided to rent two inflatable boards and a rigid board. We loaded the truck up, and drove north to Blue Ridge Reservoir. One of us is not a morning person.

The water was calm, cool, and there wasn’t much wind to toss us around. The clouds kept the sun from beating down on us. One couldn’t ask for a more perfect day. To our delight, there were not very many people on the water. Going during the week, on a Monday, certainly paid off.

I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve come here, but this was the first time seeing it from the water. Skating across the lake was almost effortless, and I was able to see it all from a new and wonderful angle.

All three of us bought our own boards as soon as we got home.
