In a perfect world, phone apps always work, nobody forgets their compass, and GPS batteries are always fully charged. If you’re in the Northern Hemisphere, hold the watch flat and point the hour hand at the sun. Half of the angle between the hour hand and the twelve o’clock mark will designate South. If your watch is set on daylight savings time, use the one o’clock marker instead.
For the Southern Hemisphere, point the twelve o’clock mark towards the sun, and half of the angle between that and the hour hand will show North.
